Cavalleria Rusticana

Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana has always been my favourite of the two, but it seems these days you can't have one without the other.  My intention here was to capture the brilliant Sicilian sunshine and clear skies with a sense of depth. Pasolini inspired in a way.

I know it's a southern hemisphere thing but Good Friday, the day Cav takes place is usually warm, mid autumn warm.  That is what I hoped to capture with this image.

You know me, I can never resist the challenge of using the same set for different scenes, but here I decided to see about setting both Cav and Pag on the one set, with some minor modifications.  I rather liked the idea of setting the second drama in the ruins of a Roman theatre as a nice contrast to the church in the same space in Cav, so here we have it.
