Heading to my Happy Place
Today has been exhausting and challenging for many reasons, not least the tragic news from Melbourne. As a result I have sought refuge in a project I return to every so often, designs for Richard Strauss' Salome.
It's a work I find elusive in a lot of ways and have spent years trying to find an original concept that is 'modern' yet stays true to the original. I now have a plan.
Here is an initial image, a work still in progress, of curtain up on that sultry terrace where these alleged events took place nearly 2000 years ago. It looks genteel and quaint now but wait until the drama unfolds and my concept develops. More to come...
