Victoria De Los Angeles
Just a quick one today before I head off to week 3 of A Taste of Verdi, to celebrate the birthday of Victoria De Los Angeles and yes I know I'm a day or so late. I thought it fitting to share her recording of the Jewel Song from Faust given the current Faust Fever that's hit Perth in recent days.
This recording will always be my favourite of the opera, for many reasons, but especially for the contribution of De Los Angeles, one of the great Diva's I had the privilege of seeing in concert when I was very young.
Anyway, enjoy the simplicity of one of the most gorgeous and generous soprano voices of the Twentieth Century in one of her signature roles.
