Get well soon - Dmitri Hvorostovsky

Yesterday the opera world woke to the sad news that one of it's living legends, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, the original barihunk has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Hvorostovsky possesses one of the most beautiful baritone voices of his generation and he is renowned for his portrayals of Verdi roles.  Verdi is the cornerstone of his fach not to mention Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, the role with which he is most identified with.

In a statement released by the singer via his website and Twitter, Hvorostovsky announced that his schedule for the next three months has been cancelled as he seeks treatment and recovers from surgery.

I join Dmitri Hvorostovsky's legions of fans worldwide in wishing him a speedy recovery to good health.  You can read more on Dima's website.  Here he is singing the magnificent Te Deum from Act 1 of Puccini's Tosca.
