Leontyne Price...a voice of velvet

If you've ever needed a reason to admire the incredible talent of Leontyne Price, surely this example of her exquisite singing is enough, the gorgeous prayer for Verdi's La Forza del Destino.  No one (forgive me Renata) comes close to this jewel of a recording of this most special of Verdi's soprano arias.

It is (the Maledizione phrase aside) my favourite of Leonora's music, mostly because of it's sense of stillness and melancholy and here Price is captured in her absolute prime.  Perfect for a birthday tribute to this greatest of Divas.
