Here's another from my concept sketches for Richard Wagner's epic Music Drama, Der Ring des Nibelungen, this time, Scene 4 from Das Rheingold.  

Work is about to begin on an updated version of the Nibelungenlied galleries on my website and an update will be posted as soon as it's ready.  

In the meantime, while you gaze in adoration at the gloriousness that is Valhalla, have a listen to one of the most uplifting endings to any opera, that is of course, the Entry of the Gods into Valhalla.

I listened to a lot of this while I worked on the above image.  It's the Karajan recording for Deutsche Grammophon, to this day one of the most luminous accounts of the score ever committed to disc.  Enjoy the rest of your week.
