Image of the Day

This is one of my favourite LP covers.  I found a copy in a second hand record store in Sydney in the early 90's and just had to have it, partly because Caballe here is a dead ringer for a certain friend of mine.  The recording itself is sensational, one of my preferred Salomes.  Caballe is rivetting as the spoiled princess and the rest of the cast is well and truly up to the same standard.

Below is a recording of the final scene recorded by Caballe, but conducted by Leonard Bernstein.  I've had this recording since I was about 14 and it's also a fave, listen to her shriek as she waits in expectation, it's gorgeous.
