Throwback Thursday

Hylas
Here's an old acrylic on canvas I completed back in the early Noughties.  Based on the mythology of the Argos, Hylas was Herakles' companion who disappeared after becoming the object of lust for some water nymphs at the spring of Pegae.  May you enjoy the rest of your week.

Or that same daintie lad, which was so deare
To great Alcides, that when as he dyde
He wailed womanlike with many a teare,
And every wood, and every valley wyde
He fild with Hylas name; the Nymphes eke "Hylas" cryde.

Book 3 of Edmund Spenser's The Faerie Queene, Canto XII, Stanza 7.
