It's Maria's birthday and had she lived, she'd be 90 today.  I've deliberated for far longer than I should have, regarding the image etc that I want to use, and so rather than opting for a particular character shot I've gone for this timeless studio pose.

And thanks to the wonder of the internet I've discovered this rare gem from her Norma in Paris, 1965.  It is quite frankly a tease, the fragment is of part of Sediziose Voci leading up to the Casta Diva. Surely the Casta Diva fragment survives too, one can only hope.

  

Happy birthday Maria Callas, you've been quite an inspiration over the years, especially during the 'formative' ones.  Your drive and passion still inspires today.
