It's her birthday - Dame Joan Sutherland

It would have been Dame Joan's birthday today, so I thought I would commemorate it with one of her signature roles, Bellini's Norma.  I adore this early photo of her in the role, and there was also many terrifically camp LP covers of the era.

What I think you would like too, is this video below...from the Bell Telephone Hour by the looks of things, from 1964.  It's Norma's entire first scene, sung with a shocking chorus and matching Set.  There is much to enjoy.
