Image of the Day...Alberich's Curse

One of the more enjoyable parts of working on a project like Nibelungenlied is the research.  Thanks to modern technology one manages to stumble across some fabulous images like this one.  It's an Alberich, the original in fact, Karl Hill, taken in Bayreuth 1876.

So here is Alberich's Curse.  After renouncing Love he goes one step further and curses the Ring, thus settting about a chain of events we now call Der Ring des Nibelungen.  I find him a fascinating character, more complex than the caricature so common in the imagery available and hence for me a challenge, design-wise.

I hope your weekend was as enriching and beautiful as mine has been.  Here's to wishing the week ahead is productive and prosperous for all of us.
