Image of the Day...Don Giovanni

I'm in the rare mood for a spot of Mozart and thought I'd share this nice image that is the publicity for Don Giovanni, WA Opera's new season as part of the Year of the Divo.  It begins on July 16 and rung through to  July 27, including a matinee on the 23rd.  It has a strong cast, particularly with the male leads and features Teddy Tahu Rhodes, James Clayton, Henry Choo and Judd Arthur.  Katja Webb and Nicole Car are the ladies.  WASO is again in the pit at His Majesty's Theatre.

So I was looking for a musical example to show here and was once again surprised by what I found.  A puppet show presentation to the voices of Cesare Siepi, Birgit Nilsson and Leontyne Price.  Cesare Valetti sings Don Ottavio and it's conducted by Erich Leinsdorf.  It's very charming.

 

But if you're in Perth in the coming weeks, go see the WA Opera.  They excel as an ensemble company and will no doubt shine in this exquisite, classic production.
