I needed some colourful inspiration for some Rhinemaidens and came across this gorgeous 19th Century postcard print.  It's very similar in style and execution to the original Doepler designs for the premiere.

Apart from Arthur Rackham, Maxfield Parrish and occasional images like the above there really doesn't seem to be many other artists who have attempted a coherent design concept for the entire Ring Cycle as a series.  Fortunately I'm able to draw further inspiration from the many recordings and DVDs that are now available, not mention  copies of the original designs which I've acquired in order to create my own.
