New Review: Jonas Kaufmann - Wagner

Richard Wagner’s bicentennial is off to a good start with the release of a number of highly anticipated recordings.  There are currently two complete Ring Cycles underway, the Marinsky cycle conducted by Gergiev, which had its first issue – Die Walkure - released on February 11; and the Pentatone cycle conducted by Jankowski set for it's first release in March.

One of the most highly anticipated Wagnerian discs to be released so far this year would definitely have to be the recital disc by Jonas Kaufmann, everyone’s tenor of the moment.

I've been listening to this disc all week and it is truly marvelous.  Click on the thumbnail for a bit of a review.  Below is an interview with Jonas Kaufmann released in conjunction with the disc.
