Festival Follies

As expected, Rachael Dease enthralled her audience on Wednesday night with the return of her award winning show City of Shadows for the Fringe World Festival.  Her haunting voice perfectly underscoring the dark magic and melancholy in her compositions, accompanied by strings and set beautifully to the images of criminals and crime scenes from 1920’s Sydney.  It’s a remarkable show and deserves every accolade it receives.

Time for a DVD release perhaps Rachael?  Above is a short teaser to give you a taste of what you missed.

Tonight I am off to the Astor Theatre to see Philip Glass in Conversation.  In an interview by Andrew Ford of the ABC, the maestro will talk about his career and music in preparation for his Piano Etude recital tomorrow night at the Perth Concert Hall.  The recital is sold out so this is the last opportunity to see the great man in person.  It only goes for an hour and should be well worth a look.
