New Review: Madama Butterfly - De los Angeles - Di Stefano

Back in the 80's I had the privilege of seeing Victoria de los Angeles live at the Perth Concert Hall.  It remains one of the most moving nights of my life, she simply sat on stage with a guitar and sang Medieval and Spanish folk songs.  The audience was completely captivated and by the end she had people standing, screaming and stamping their feet.  I'd never experienced anything quite like it and rarely since.

Here is a review of her first recording of Madama Butterfly with Giuseppe Di Stefano and Tito Gobbi.  She is in radiant voice and I hope it encourages you to seek it out and have a listen.
