Tonight: City of Perth's Opera in the Park: The Pearlfishers

Bizet's perennial favourite, Les Pêcheurs de Perles, is this years Opera in the Park at the Supreme Court Gardens this evening from 8pm.

A quaint 19th Century French portrayal of the exotic Far East,it contains some of Bizet's most charming melodies, written when he was only 24 years old.

Katja Webb stars as Liela, the priestess who comes between the childhood friends Nadir, played  by tenor Henry Choo, and James Clayton as Nourabad with Sitiveni Talei as Zurga.

Accompanied by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and WA Opera Chorus, under the baton of Brian Castles-Onion, this should be a summer night to remember.
