Image of the Day

It's day eight of my Elektra Advent Calendar and for your viewing pleasure I give you the Klytemnestra of Regina Resnick.  A mezzo with one of the lushest voices of the 20th Century, her career spanned decades and many roles both in the soprano and mezzo repertoires.  Her Klytemnestra recorded for Decca with Birgit Nilsson in the title role, under the direction of Georg Solti, remains a benchmark performance.  This photo is from Stuttgart in 1971, late in her career.  More from La Resnick later.
