In Brightest Day...

I have always been more of a DC Comics fanboy than Marvel, so in the interests of balance I thought that I had better post the preview for the upcoming Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan and the voice of Jeffery Rush as Tomar-Re with an interesting cast including Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins, Temuera Morrison and Blake Lively. It’s directed by Martin Campbell, who was responsible for Casino Royale, and Edge of Darkness, neither of which I have seen.

I have long been a fan of Green Lantern and this tells the story from the beginning. One thing I am hoping for however is the treatment of the many bizarre looking aliens that make up the Green Lantern Corps, they have a tendency to look somewhat tacky in the original comics (I mean c’mon Ch’p the squirrel for example?) and hope that they fair better here, though with today’s special effects being what they are, it shouldn’t be too difficult, fingers crossed.

There seems to be quite a slew of Super Hero movies being released at the moment, beginning with Green Hornet and Kick Ass, then with Captain America: The First Avenger, X-Men: First Class, and Red Sonja to follow later in the year and a reboot of Superman in the works, not to mention the new Wonder Woman TV series which has got tongues wagging too, mine included. More on these later.

Green Lantern is set for release June 17th.
