Musical Highlights Of The Week

Just two quick entries today as I am off to see Cecilia Bartoli in recital this evening, which is one of the musical highlight of my week, so exciting!  The other takes place on Thursday night, at Becks Music Box for the Perth International Arts Festival which is due to end this weekend.

I am, of course referring to Wildbirds & Peacedrums with Voices and AmiinaAmiina I have seen before and look forward to re-acquainting myself with their haunting music, they are doing the soundtrack to the work of animator Lotte ReinigerWildbirds & Peacedrums are new to me and are appearing with the St George's Cathedral Choir so it should be an interesting evening of music.

The after party looks fantastic too, this is info from the website:
"DJKL
Al Reinert's film For All Mankind documents NASA's Apollo missions, with much of the footage shot by the astronauts themselves. Brian Eno supplied the original soundtrack, released asApollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks.

For this performance, DJKL rescores the film with a soundscape of NASA audio recordings and Brian Eno compositions, combined with music by ambient artists such as The Orb, Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin. Drawing on Eno’s Oblique Strategies and chance processes, DJKL uses a number of sound sources on random settings to ensure that the performance is unique and unpredictable. This serendipitous juxtaposition of sound and vision provides a new view of this landmark documentary."

I think it just might be a late night!
